Mission Complete: August 30, 2019- SPC4 Virgil Joe Cottman, USA, Vietnam Era Veteran, Okla. City/Anadarko, Ok.
On Friday August 30, 2019 there were 3 Patriot Guard Riders in 3 cages who attended the mission to Honor the Military Service of SPC4 Virgil Joe Cottman at Oklahoma Cremation & Funeral Home 2415 N. Walnut Avenue, Oklahoma City, Ok.
The PGR stood the Flag Line, with the Army and American Flag by the entry door, and manned the doors as family and friends arrived for the service. When the service began, PGR members returned the flags to the flag vehicle.
The Army Honor Guard played Taps and folded the Flag, then presented it to the Hero’s wife.
The Patriot Guard riders presented a plaque and a framed and invocation to the wife of the Hero then thanked the family for inviting us to come and Honor the Military Service of their loved one, and a final salute was rendered by members.
At the conclusion of the service, riders accompanied the Hero, family and friends to Memory Lane Cemetery in Anadarko, OK, where the family said good bye to their hero in private.
Thank you, to all of my fellow Patriot Guard Riders for attending this mission. Your presence gave comfort to the family. To all who could not attend, you were missed.
Most of all, thank you SPC4 Virgil Joe Cottman, for your service to this great nation. Rest in Peace Sir, your mission is complete, you will not be forgotten.
Respectfully,
RC Wes “MAC” McAtee
