Victor Walter Graham

ABOUT THE MISSION:
Victor Walter Graham stood for us, now it is our turn to stand for him. Victor enlisted in the Army in 1944 at the age of 17. He landed on the beaches of Normandy, France on D Day and fought until Europe was liberated. MSgt Graham was highly decorated with two purple hearts and a silver star among his awards. In June of this year, Mr. Graham returned to Normandy as the guest of the Hillgrove High School band who was performing for D Day memorial services at National Cemeteries there. While there, Victor served as Grand Marshall in a D Day parade at St. Mere-Eglise.

Special Instructions:

Stage at the flag pole. Bikes park on the side walk. Cages park on the road before or after the flag pole and leave room for traffic to pass. Start hydration the night before as the weather will be hot.
Flags & Water:
Flags will be provided
Large Bike Flags will NOT be needed.
Water will be provided.

  3. Ride report: Today was a clear, cool, sunny day with a very nice breeze. Fifteen PGR assembled at GNC for the service of MSgt Victor Walter Graham. We said the pledge and Dennis led us in prayer. I then conducted the briefing. Victor’s Army unit was the longest serving and most decorated unit of the war.
    The minister conducted the service and the Army honors team folded and presented the flag. The VFW rifle team fired the three-volley salute and then presented three spent shells. I presented the condolence card and an Angel coin to Victor’s son.
    Thank you to all who assisted me today. Thank you to Reuben for the flags, drinks, and the condolence card.
