SUMMARY:Victor N. Montoya
DESCRIPTION:Honor Mission\nVictor N. Montoya\nUSA – WWII\nPhoenix\, Arizona – 09-13-19\n\n\n\n\nABOUT THE MISSION: \nVictor N. Montoya was a United States Army veteran. He proudly served his country in the US Army from 1944 to 1946. He was trained as a Cook. He was assigned to 209th AAA Automatic Weapons Battalion (Self-Propelled). In 1945 and over the next couple of months\, weapons systems were overhauled\, replacements came in\, and the battalion prepared for the next mission — the assault on the Philippines. The 209th was committed to the invasion on January 8\, 1945\, supporting infantry troops in Lingayen Gulf. Fighting was so fierce that some of the AA troops were utilized as infantrymen. Once objectives were seized\, the battalion regrouped and was again relegated to airbase defense. Once the war against Japan ended\, the pre-war members of the battalion were discharged. The 209th AAA AW Bn (SP)\, with replacements\, was deployed to Japan as Occupation troops and was inactivated May 20\, 1947\, in Japan. While in the service to his country Victor received the following awards: Army of Occupation Medal (Japan) Philippine Liberation Medal\, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal\, Good Conduct Medal\, World War II Victory Medal.\n\n\nPRIMARY STAGING DETAILS: 09-13-19 \nStaging Time: 10:45 am \nSaints Simon and Jude Cathedral\n6351 N 27th Ave.\nPhoenix\, Arizona 85017\n\n\nRide Captain: \nTim Gentry 402-210-7857  tgentry100@gmail.com\nOutside Company will provide escort service.\n\n\nSpecial Instructions: \nArrive quietly Mass will be in progress.
