Veterans Tribute Carillon Tower Escort -Georgia National Cemetery- Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia

Cincinnati, Ohio – 04-03-20

ABOUT THE MISSION:

*Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has ordered all non-essential businesses to close starting tomorrow through April 6th due to COVID-19. As a result, we have to postpone the transportation of the Veterans Tribute Carillon Tower*
The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to escort “The Veterans Tribute Carillon Tower” from the The Verdin Company in Cincinnati, Ohio to Georgia National Cemetery this will be a multi-state participation ride where PGR will accompany the truck that will deliver the newly manufactured Carillon Tower (Bell Tower) to GNC where it will pay honor and tribute to America’s Heroes.
The tower will stand forty feet high and house three cast bronze bells (which were cast along with donated jewelry, trinkets and medals donated by family and friends). The music, however, is broadcast through three large speakers. The carillon will be able to play up to 1,000 songs, many of which are available in multiple musical keys, arrangements, and bell voices. Ten bagpipe songs are included: “Amazing Grace,” “Going Home,” “Highland Cathedral,” “America,” “Flowers of the Forest,” and the songs of the five branches of the armed forces. “Taps” and “Volley” are, of course, also included.
A bronze commemorative plaque will be installed at the base of the tower. The plaque will read as follows:
THIS TOWER
STANDS AS A
LASTING TRIBUTE
HONORING THE PAST,
SALUTING THE PRESENT,
& INSPIRING THE FUTURE
FOR ALL AMERICAN VETERANS
A short video about the tower can be found at the following link: VIDEO
All riders are invited to participate and to join/depart the mission at any or all of the stages you are able.
A contingent of Georgia riders will leave the Canton, Georgia area on Thursday April 2nd and travel together to the Cincinnati, Ohio area.
