DESCRIPTION:The family of Vernon C Burkhart has requested the participation of the Patriot Guard Riders in the calling hours and military honors for their hero. \nWHEN / WHERE;\nWednesday August 24\, 2016\nQueensbury\, NY. \nLRC:\nMike Hogan\nmhogan01@nycap.rr.com \nAbout the mission;\nVernon graduated from Brooklyn Technical school in 1946 then he worked as a tool and die maker before entering the U.S. Army in 1950. There he served as a radio technician and communications chief during the Korean War as part of the 140th Heavy Tank Batallion\, 40th Infantry Division.  During his service\, he attained the rank of Corporal.  He spent his career with General Electric as an analytical chemist. \nVernon was also a proud 60 plus year member of the North Queensbury Volunteer Fire Dept serving in many positions including President\, and also volunteered with the rescue squad as well. \nThe Patriot Guard Riders will be privileged to render Honor Dignity and Respect for the life and service of Vernon C. Burkhart.
