HOTH Mission Complete: 16 July 2019 – PVT Ulysses S. Moore, USA WWI Veteran, Oklahoma City, OK

On Tuesday, 16 July 2019 there were 6 Patriot Guard Riders on 5 bikes and 1 cage who attended the HOTH Mission requested by the Coltrane Group to Honor the Military Service and the memory of USA WWI Veteran PVT Ulysses S. Moore and his family as his headstone was placed on his gravesite.

A short briefing was held, followed by the assembly of flags in anticipation of the Flag Line for the arrival of family members, friends, and others attending the celebration of the placing of the headstone on PVT Moore’s previously unmarked grave site.

Upon the arrival of the family, the Flag Line was stood until the family was seated under the shelter, then surrounded the shelter as the celebration began with prayers.

Because PVT Moore had never been afforded a Military Funeral, the American Legion Honor Team rendered the 3 Round Volley and played Taps, and the USA Honors Team folded and presented the Flag to the Hero’s granddaughter.

At the conclusion of the service, Riders quietly moved to the flag vehicle, where the flags were broken down and placed in the trailer for the next mission.

Thank you to all my fellow PGR for attending this mission which, as it turned out, was as much an Honor Mission as a HOTH Mission. Your presence made a difference to this family.

Most of all, thank you PVT Ulysses S. Moore, for your service to this great nation a century ago. You have endured in the hearts and minds of your family, and you will not be forgotten.

Respectfully,
RCIC Ray “rayneman” Gehrig
