ABOUT THE MISSION:
Terry Merten was born in Asheboro, North Carolina on April 21, 1941. Terry was married on March 14, 1963 and recently celebrated 56 years together. Terry had a long and distinguished career in the United States Navy, receiving many awards and commendations. He was assigned to the USS Forrestal in Vietnam at the time of the fire aboard ship that claimed the lives of 134 sailors. Retiring in 1980 after more than 22 years of service, he was employed at Dickson Weatherproof Nail, Harris Machine Tool and PMC.
