ABOUT THE MISSION:
Born in Terre Haute, Indiana, Bill left college and enlisted in the United States Navy Pilot Training Program in 1943, at the age of 17. After WWII, he returned to college to earn his Bachelor of Science degree and began a teaching career. He was recalled in 1951 and served as an Air Defense Officer aboard a Navy destroyer off the coast of Korea. Bill attained the rank of Lieutenant Commander (O-4) and was Honorably discharged in 1954. He later settled in Greenwich, NY where he was very active and well-remembered in the local community.
The Patriot Guard Riders are proud to have the opportunity to stand for and render dignity, honor and respect for the life and service of Mr. William Ermal Boyd, WWII “Greatest Generation” hero and Korean War Veteran.
