Charles Johns, Veteran

USA LEO – Vietnam

St. Louis, Missouri – 24 May 2017

ABOUT THE MISSION:

The family of Charles Johns has invited the Patriot Guard to stand a flag line before his funeral service and to provide an honor escort to Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery for military honors.
This is from one of my friends that served with him.
Chuck proudly served his country for 19 months in Vietnam from 1966-67, serving with both the 82nd Airborne Division and 173rd Airborne Brigade. In November 1967, he was a part of one of the most ferocious battles of the Vietnam War; The battle for Hill 875 Dak To, Vietnam. Chuck was one of the 254 wounded paratroopers who were carried off the hill, along with hundreds of his Airborne Brothers who were killed in action. He was an American Paratrooper and wore the Ranger Tab. Decorations included the Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

He continued to follow his heart for service as a Police Officer with the Overland Police Department for 8 years. In 1978, Chuck became a Security Officer for the McDonnell Douglas Corporation/The Boeing Company, retiring after 30 years in 2008.
