William attained the rank of PFC (E-3).  While in Germany William became a member of the Honor Guard assigned to protect President Dwight Eisenhower during the Four Power Paris Summit.  Following his discharge William served 11 more years in law enforcement before becoming a truck driver for Groendyke for 32 years. \nWilliam is survived by his wife\, son\, two daughters and numerous other relatives and friends.
