Cordell Wiser, PGR
MULTI-CITY, MULTI-STATE – 12 May 2017
ABOUT THE MISSION:
Cordell Wiser, 75, was born in Utah to Samuel Glenn and Emerett in 1941. Cordell has always had a gentle heart and soul for people. There always seemed to be enough time for Cordell to help someone else, and still be the gentle leader of the family and to hang out with his wife and children.
Cordell had another calling rise up in his life. So instead of sitting around in retirement, Cordell discovered a group of people that he felt he could do a lot of good for others.
That group of people was called the (PGR) “Patriot Guard Riders”. A 100% volunteer, non-profit organization. Cordell became a member in July, 2009 and soon became a Ride Captain for the PGR.
As a young man Cordell was denied the ability to serve his country for medical reasons and this did not sit well with him.
This was Cordell’s chance to “stand for those that have stood for us”. Cordell dedicated almost all of his free time to this cause over the years. He began as a member and soon became a Ride Captain for the PGR.
The PGR ensures dignity and respect at memorial services honoring Fallen Military Heroes, Veterans and First Responders by accompanying funeral processions, forming flag lines at Memorials,& Welcoming home soldiers that are returning from deployment.
Unfortunately, about two years ago Cordell became too weak to ride his bike, but he wouldn’t let that stop him, he continued to do what he could in his car until he could no longer drive. He liked to volunteer to pick up dog tags for the families of our KIAs and Active Duty Heroes and did this right up until 2 weeks before he went into the hospital prior to passing.
In the late hours of April 19, 2017, Cordell Wiser lost his 12 year battle with cancer.
That night the world lost a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle and Friend,
We also lost a brother to all of us in the Patriot Guard. He has left such great love and memories in all of our hearts and is going to be dearly missed.
Cordell’s last wish was that he could have one last ride on his beloved motorcycle.
The Wiser Family, and the Patriot Guard are going to make that happen.
Robert and Michael,(Cordell’s two sons) , and the Patriot Guard will be transporting our Hero’s remains on Cordell’s bike, where he will be laid to rest with his parents and other family members, in Lewiston, Utah
Cordell is survived by his Wife, Ruth, 3 sons, 2 Daughters-in-law, his 2 Granddaughters, 2 Brothers and their Wives, 2 Sisters, a Sister-in-law & her Husband, and a very large family of Nieces and Nephews,& their Children and Grand-Children.
Cordell was preceded in death by his parents, 5 Brothers, and 3 Sisters.
NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this PGR Brother. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the family church to his final resting place. Please see the time table if you would like to participate.
NOTE: All stops will be 15 min unless more time needed. Everyone is welcome to go either in cage or bike. The weather will be hot use your best judgement, and get hydrated the day before. Our SoCal run will end in Vegas where we will hand off to Nevada Patriot Guard, but you are welcome to continue on with them if you wish.
