Bergey\, PGR\, Veteran \nUSA \nNeillsville\, MULTI-STATE – 09 Mar 2017\n \n\n\nABOUT THE MISSION:\nEdward John Bergey was called home Friday morning\, March 3\, 2017 surrounded by family. Ed was born November 22\, 1943 in Clare\, MI to Fredrick Sr. and Cleo Bergey. After high school Ed served in the US Army from 1961-1964 and\, though listed as infantry\, we know he was a Cook a skill he carried with him. He was a Senior Ride Captain of the Patriot Guard for 8 years. He enjoyed fishing and riding his motorcycle. \nOur HOTH program exists because of Ed’s work. He started with dinners at Chippewa Falls and Union Grove and when he had leftovers he tracked down local vets and delivered meals. He was always concerned with active military and got a group to build 60 packages going out to service men and women overseas with supplies and treats. He created Meet and Greet events at Chippewa Falls and required everyone to bring at least a grocery bag of food. One year they needed 2 pickup trucks to carry it all. Then there was his support of his Grandma\, and keeping her 4 sewing machines running for her quilt “factory” where she made (at 94 years old) and donated hundreds of hand made quilts for veterans at the VA homes!! \nI remember his starting a repair shop in Neillsville and after he’d finished a job\, an elderly woman came in the pick up her car. I heard the price and after she left I asked Ed why it was so low. He said\, “She’s barely getting by”… then added “and she brings me cookies”. This is the Ed I’ll remember. \nShort in stature but a giant in the eyes of so many. He will be missed.\n\nPRIMARY STAGING DETAILS: 09 Mar 2017\n\nPrimary Staging Time: 8:30 A.M.\nGesche Funeral Home\n4 S Grand Ave\,\nNeillsville\, Wisconsin – 54456\n \n\nRide Captain:\nGene James gandbjames@centurytel.net\n\nSpecial Instructions:\nStaging 8:30 a.m.\nFlagline for family arrival 9:30 a.m.\nVisitation 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.\nMemorial Service 11:00 a.m.\n\nFlags & Water:\nFlags Will Be Provided\nLarge Bike Flags will NOT be needed.\nWater WILL NOT be provided\, please bring your own. \nSubmitted By: John Curran\nPosition: State Captain\nGraphic Source: My file\n\nNote:\nYou do not have to own/ride a motorcycle or be a Veteran to join and membership is Free.
