ABOUT THE MISSION:

It is with great sadness that we have been asked once again to stand for one who has tood for us, but who has left us way too soon. The family of William Shawn Thompson, has asked us to Honor him. Shawn as he was called was born October 10, 1980, died Sunday, June 4, 2017, age 36, at Columbus Regional Healthcare System in Whiteville.
He was a disabled veteran of the US Coast Guard; Shawn was stationed on the USS Diligence; which was at port in New Your Harbor on the day of the September 11th, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center. He along with crew members witness and assisted in the rescue of victims of the attack. Shawn, was disabled (90 percent rating) due to an injury suffered while helping at the Twin Towers after 9/ll.
Shawn was a graduate of West Columbus High School and Southeastern Community College. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. He is survived by his mother of the home; his father of Chadbourn; and his maternal grandmother of Chadbourn; God grandson of Cerro Gordo; siblings both of Chadbourn.

This will be Part 1 of a 2 part 2 day mission, details for part 2 will be posted in another mission post. Part 1, we will stage at Worthington Funeral Home, 405 E Strawberry Blvd, Chadbourn.
We will stand a flagline during the visitation from 7 – 9 PM. At the end of the visitation, we will stand down and quietly leave the area.
