ABOUT THE MISSION:
Obituary: https://tinyurl.com/yd8qtpu4
Please read the following, written by his brother-in-arms as background about Alirio.
It is with a very heavy heart that I bring this information to you all. As you all know I am one of the original/founding members of this chapter. A fact that I hold as high an honor as the fact that all our members have served in combat.
If you have been with 19-5 since the beginning then you have at some time or another met a man that has been a friend of my family, and a mentor to me to follow in my work to continue to serve our military, our veterans and our country even after the uniform was hung up.
That man is former Marine ALIRIO ORDUNA, or Al as we all know him. The founder, along with my father, of the Queens Marine Corps Youth Cadets out of Jackson Heights Queens. He always loves to tell the story of the Van i gave the cadets right before I left for Iraq in 2005. Al and his Cadets have supported and served our chapter from the start. Al and his kids have attended every event our chapter has ever had. They have fed us, cleaned up after us, directed traffic, taken orders, donated to us, just to name a few things. Al has been a leader and father figure for many young men and women over the years. He has helped to develop them into adults. And many have gone onto attend academy’s like West Point and Annapolis, and others who have gone on to careers in active duty military.
He loves America, all our military branches, and he loves the CVMA 19-5.
Sadly on 10/30/2017 our brother in arms suffered a massive heart attack and did not survive. He has left us in body only. because his sprite will live on in the kids he has mentored for the last 20 years, and that includes this big kid as well.
I ask any member to please make yourself available to attend his service. He loved CVMA 19-5, and we are asked to bring Al on his final ride. Details are below. Please ket me know who can make it, I am also sending notice to the PGR as well.
TILL VALHALLA
SEMPER FI WARRIOR
Thank you
CVMA West Point/Black Knight Chapter
19-5 Commander
