ABOUT THE MISSION:

Georgia National Cemetery to Honor the 100 year
Anniversary of the United States Entering WWI

A WWI Wreath Laying Commemoration Ceremony
April 06, 2017 at 11:00 am

The Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, Georgia, will commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the United States’ entry into World War I on April 6, 1917 by conducting a wreath laying ceremony at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 6, 2017, at the Ceremonial Wall, Assembly Area of the Cemetery.

The ceremony, entitled “In Sacrifice for Liberty and Peace: Centennial Commemoration of the U.S. Entry in World War I,” will be conducted by the Cemetery’s Assistant Director, Francisco Gonzalez and will feature speakers as well as the wreath laying. The commemoration on this date will be held at numerous places throughout the County, including the National World War I Museum and Memorial in Kansas City, MO and National Cemeteries.

All members of the public are invited to attend. “Students who are on spring break from school, veterans, families, and all who would like to honor those who served during World War I may find this commemoration especially meaningful,” said Mr. Gonzalez.

Special Instructions:
We will assemble at the PIC building then move to shelter 2 where we will have a briefing and then set the flagline at Assembly Area, Ceremonial Wall.

After the ceremony we will set another flagline for the 13:00 funeral mission.



Flags & Water:
Flags Will Be Provided
Large Bike Flags will NOT be needed.
Water will be provided.
