Fall Fest Kickoff to Veterans Week, Veteran

Elma, New York – 04 Nov 2017

ABOUT THE MISSION:

We have been invited to participate in a very special event. As part of the Made In America Store’s Fall Fest, there will be an Iroquois Foundation “4-Miler Salutes Veterans” race. At the Finish Line, two local Marine Corps Veterans who earned Purple Hearts 60 years apart – one during the Battle of Iwo Jima, the other during Operation Iraqi Freedom – will meet for the first time. There will be a special presentation of a Patriot Plaque to the OIF Veteran, and a gift to the WWII Veteran. There will a birthday cake to celebrate the upcoming 242nd Birthday of the USMC on 10 November, and a kickoff to Veterans’ Day celebrations. OF SPECIAL NOTE: The Iroquois Foundation designates Buffalo Niagara Honor Flight as the recipient charity. The Fall Fest 2017 runs from 9:30 AM-2:00 PM, with many Veteran-owned vendors.
NOTE: The Requester, Dorothy, is a BN Honor Flight volunteer and will be at the Honor Flight Send-Off that morning.

Special Instructions:

SPECIAL PARKING INSTRUCTIONS: Please access the store parking lot thru the Northeast Collision entrance off Maple Road. A driveway in the back, on the right, has access to West Maple Court, go up the driveway next to Aurora Optometric, this will put you close to the store’s side entrance. This way we will avoid the Finish Line of the race, the timekeepers and the runners. Please advise the Volunteer Firefighters directing traffic that you are with PGR.
Please arrive on time with a clean 3×5 American Flag or USMC flag, and dress for the weather.
Please do whatever you’re able to help support and witness this historic event, as the brotherhood of the US Marine Corps transcends six decades of service and sacrifice.
