John served in the US Army from 19 June 1960 to 18 Jun 1963. He served as an Air Traffic Controller in the 4th Aviation Company of the 4th Infantry Division stationed at Ft. Lewis\, Wa and earned an Expert Marksmanship Badge for the M1.
