Dick served in the United States Army from January 1968 to January 1970 followed by the Army Reserve until January 1974.  His specialty was as a Wireman SGT (T) E5.  He received the National Defense Service Medal and Sharpshooter M14. Dick was an active volunteer in a number of areas.  He was well known for many years of coaching Little League baseball.
