SPC Shoshana Johnson, Former POW

The Iraq Monument in Cape Coral invites the Patriot Guard Riders to Welcome Former POW SPC Shoshana Johnson, to SW FL on 29 MAY 16.
SPC Johnson is the first African-American female POW in the military history of the United States. She was assigned to the 507th Maintenance Co., 5/52 ADA BN, 11th ADA Brigade. While serving in Iraq she suffered bullet wounds to both of her ankles and was captured by Iraqi forces. She was held prisoner for 22 days along with five other members of her unit. She was freed in a rescue mission conducted by USMC units on April 13, 2003.
