ABOUT THE MISSION:

Solon A Studdard was a member of the “Greatest Generation”; a veteran of WWII. He was a native of Carbon Hill, AL. Solon entered military service in 1943 at Ft McClellan, AL. His service called him to Battles and Campaigns in New Guinea, South Philippines, Luzon. For his bravery he was awarded: APTO MED, Philippine Liberation Ribbon w/Bronze Star, Good Conduct Med, WWII Victory Medal.Mr Studdard was assigned to the 506th ENGR Light Pontoon Co. On demobilization, he received his Honorable Discharge at the Separation Center Cp Shelby MISS. He returned to his home in Carbon Hill, AL.The “Greatest Generation” is not lightly assigned to the citizens of this era. Of the 5 sibling in this family, all 4 males served. Two served in the U.S. Army and two in the U.S. Marine Corps.Solon A Studdard was a charter member and WWII honoree that contributed to the WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Special Instructions:

The Family of Solon Studdard has requested that the PGR join in honoring his service to our Nation. Although he passed a couple of years ago, his cremains will be interred at the cemetery, with full military honors.PGR will stage at the cemetery office. After meeting the family, the PGR will escort Mr. Studdard to the Committal Shelter for services and honors.
