Honor Mission
Shawn Howard Berry, Veteran
Salem, Oregon – 06-16-18

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Patriot Guard Riders, we have been invited to stand for Shawn Howard Berry, age 43. After 9/11 he had an interest in the Marine Corps.   At age 28 he joined, with an age and weight waiver. Shawn earned the name “Old Man” from his brothers in arms. He was an assault amphibian vehicle repairman. Shawn chose not to advance past the rank of Corporal because he liked to work and wasn’t one to take charge of other people. He deployed to Iraq for Operation Iraq Freedom campaign during the big push into Falluja in 2004 and lost 4 of his brothers from his unit. He left the Marines in March of 2007 at the rank of Corporal.  He earned the USMC Good Conduct Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Iraq Campaign Medal, GWOT Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, GWOT Expeditionary Medal, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, and the National Defense Service Medal. Please join us as we pay our respects and honor his service to our nation.

  1. I extend my most heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Shawn H. Berry, USMC WoT Veteran. During this most difficult time, I pray you peace. I will forever be grateful for his service, sacrifice, and dedication to our country. Rest easy now, Marine…those you have left behind to carry on without you have the watch.

  2. I’m going to miss ya Shawn. It’s saddens me to see another marine and a friend pass. Im sorry for what happen to you and I hope you are at peace. I want to say thank you for everything and being a good friend to me and I want to also say Thank you for what you have done for all of us and keeping our country safe from those that is still trying to destroy it. My father was in the Marine corp during Vietnam war he has saw a lot combat fighting him and his Marines were involved with some special operations in Cambodia trying to shutdown the Ho Chi Minh trail. We all have to keep this in mind that freedom is not and never has been free a lot of those has gave some and some gave all in for it. As Americans we all must not and never take that for granted for. I wish you god speed Shawn Berry, Your friend for life Jesse B Lewis, Milwaukie OR.
