SGT Carlo Robinson

Due to an error made by the US Amy at the original mission on 1/17/09 The US Army is participating in an attempt to properly honor SGT. Carlo Robinson with a ceremony including a welcome home ceremony at the airport, flag presentation, escort and memorial service.

SGT Carlo Robinson honorably served his country in the US Army and tragically died on January 17, 2009, due to wounds sustained from a suicide bomber while serving in Afghanistan. After SGT Robinson’s death, the Army flew him and another deceased soldier back to each of their hometowns with Hope, AR being the first stop.

Upon the arrival of SGT Robinson’s body a grave error was made by the Army and the wrong casket was released from
the plane. The Army’s error went unnoticed until the casket reached the funeral home.

Unfortunately, the casket in which military honors were provided and the Robinson family gathered around and grieved was not that of SGT Robinson. After the Army realized the error at the funeral home, they quietly returned back to the airport to exchange caskets. Sadly, there were no plane side services rendered, no heartfelt welcome home, no one was present to properly honor and receive Carlo’s remains in the dignified way in which he earned and deserved.

Since the death of SGT Robinson there had been several events which deprived the Robinson family from grieving the loss of their son. Shortly after SGT Robinson died, his mother, Ms. Jennifer Robinson received notice that parts of her son’s death benefits were being redirected inappropriately. Over the past 7 years, Ms. Robinson has sought to find justice for her deceased son. On October 22, 2015, Ms. Robinson represented her deceased son during a two day civil trial and won.

Through the devastating loss of a son, the inconceivable mistake made by the Army and the lengthy court case, the Robinson family is now able to move forward to seek final closure. The last part in need of correction is a proper and
dignified homecoming for SGT Robinson.

We would like to honor the life of SGT Robinson and honor his family for their many sacrifices to this country. We welcome you to help celebrate his life with us on June 16, 2016, starting at 10:00 am at the Hempstead Hall in Hope, AR.
