The family of Marvin Gene Canterbury, U.S. Army Korean War Veteran, has requested the Patriot Guard Riders to stand honors at his funeral on Friday, September 9th 2016.
He served 20 years in the United States Army, was in the Korean War, and received the Korean Service Medal with a bronze service star. He also was awarded the National Defense Medal with a bronze service star, an Expert Badge with Carbine Bar with Missile and Rifle Bar, the United Nations Service Medal and was also trained to fly helicopters.
Mr. Canterbury, 84, passed away on Saturday, 03 September 2016.
The family will receive friends, from 1300 until 1400 (1:00 pm until 2:00 pm) on Friday September 9th, with the funeral starting at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church, 300 S Market St, Lancaster, SC 29720.
Following the funeral service, the Patriot Guard Riders will escort Mr. Canterbury to New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, 3731 Lynwood Dr, Lancaster, SC 29720 for graveside services.

PART ONE: Visitation and Funeral Service.

Briefing: 1230 (12:30 pm)
Execution: Stand flag line for visitation at 1245 (12:45 pm) until 1400 (2:00 pm)
Stand Down during funeral and prepare to escort at 1500 (3:00 pm)
PART TWO: Escort
Escort (approx. 8 miles) and re-establish flag line at the cemetery – September 9th 2016.
