The family of Senior Chief USCG Ret Richard E. Landick has requested the Patriot Guard Riders escort and stand a flag line for their loved one. The PGR is honored to do so.


Senior Chief Richard E. Landick was in the U. S. Coast Guard from 1941 to 1963, where he saw combat action with the U.S. Naval Amphibious Forces through the Solomon Islands campaign during WWII. He served in Germany from 1950 to 1953. Additionally, he was the Coast Guard’s last Stenotype Court Reporter prior to the Coast Guard going to the closed microphone court reporting system. He served as a federal court reporter in the Communist Waterfront Appeal Hearings and admiralty affairs prior to his retirement. During his Coast Guard service he also taught court reporting at night at several business colleges and subsequently owned and operated a court reporting school in Seattle. In 1979 he relocated to Lockeford, CA where he resumed teaching court reporting at Humphrey’s College in Stockton until 1986.

He is a life member of American Legion and the Fleet Reserve Association. He was the past commander of American Legion Post 96, Snohomish, WA; past Chef de Gare Voiture 505 40 & 8 of Snohomish County, WA; National Recorder Emeritus of 40 & 8; and served in offices up to and including vice president in the Washington State Court Reporters Association; Fleet Reserve Branch 170, Everett, WA and Lodi 50 plus club.

He spent many hours in volunteer work in Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball, fund raising for nurses’ training and Special Olympics.

Richard was awarded the following medals and citations for his honorable service to our country: Commandants Commendation, American Area Medal & Ribbon, American Campaign Medal, Navy Occupation Service Medal Europe, WWII Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Area Medal w/3 Stars, National Defense Service Medal, Coast Guard Good Conduct Medal w/star, Coast Guard Combat Action Ribbon.

He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Wanda Landick, 3 sons and their wives, 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

THE MISSION: On Tuesday May 10, 2016, the PGR will stage at McDonalds 841 E. Kettleman Ln, Lodi (East side of hwy 99) to receive a briefing then proceed to Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home, 831 Industrial Way Lodi Ca. ETA 0905 to establish a flag line at the entrance to the funeral home and the honorable transfer of Richard’s cremains to the family vehicle for escort to Cherokee Memorial Park Cemetery 13951 N. Beckman Rd, Lodi Ca. (Beckman Rd & Harney Ln East of hwy 99). ETA at the Memorial Park is 0950. Services to commence at 1000 hours. Patriot Guard Riders will be dismissed at the conclusion of the services.
