Samuel A. Nevels, Jr., Veteran
USAF – Vietnam
Dallas, Texas – 05-06-19

ABOUT THE MISSION:

Sammy Nevels Jr is remembered for his love of God, and his family. He instilled the importance of hard work, dedication, and morals into his two sons and everyone he met. These are all principals that will continue to live on and be passed down to the love ones and friends that will miss him.  His life began Oct. 31st, 1946 in Corsicana, TX. The eldest son of Samuel Nevels Sr and Ethel Nevels. The early years of his life involved earning money with relatives in the fields of Navarro County. He learned of his family’s strong spiritual heritage and faithfulness to the Lord. This became a staple in his life in which he held close.

After graduation Sammy entered into Air Force in June of 1965 and served his time honorably as a Police Airman. Completing his service, he returned to Fort Worth, Texas and married Millie Foster. During their union they had two sons, in which they later gained 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He later married Maxine Brenson who preceded him in death.

Plumbing was Sammy’s trade profession and he obtained his Pipefitter Certification and Journey Plumber License between 1976 and 1983. He then began his own company ASAP Plumbing and Air Conditioning which he sold later. This provided an opportunity to work for General Motors where he worked as a pipe-fitter and hydraulics serviceman for 20 plus years. He retired with the UAW (United Automobile Workers) Award for Dedication, Service and Sacrifice.

He was an Avid Kansas City Chiefs and Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed playing Chess, Dominoes, reading, collecting knives and daily crossword puzzles.  Sammy was known for his welcoming attitude, his willingness to help others and he never met a stranger.
