Honor Mission
Rudolph “Rudy” Sanchez Ramirez
USMC, USMCR – Vietnam
Phoenix, Arizona – 04-15-21


Rudolph Sanchez Ramirez is a United States Marine Corps Veteran. Rudy was inducted on March 16, 1966. Rudy served 4 yrs., including 1 yr. and 12 days of foreign service in Vietnam. Rudy’s MOS (Military Occupation Specialty) was 0351 – Anti-Tank Assault man. On March 15, 1968, Rudy was released from active duty and transferred to the United States Marine Corps Reserve. Rudy’s last duty assignment was with Military Police Company, Headquarter & Support Battalion, Marine Corps Reserve Depot, Camp Pendleton, San Diego, CA. On March 15, 1972, having attained the rank of Corporal, Rudy was honorably discharged. During his service to our country, Rudy received the following: National Defense Service Medal; Vietnamese Service Medal w/1 bronze service star; Presidential Unit Citation; Vietnamese Campaign Medal w/scroll; Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal w/Combat V. During his time in Vietnam Rudy was repeatedly exposed to Agent Orange. Rudy ultimately succumbed to an illness suffered as a result of this exposure.  It is our honor to stand in silent reverence as we show respect and gratitude to this hero for the sacrifices he made for this nation.

Although all prior statewide mandates have been lifted at staging locations, all members must still adhere to the following:· All members are required to carry a face mask/cloth covering at all times during the mission. There are still partners (funeral homes, cemeteries, churches) that require masks to be worn. Some families may also request masks/face coverings be worn. There are no exceptions.· If you feel ill or have a temperature, please stay home until you improve.· If, in the past week, you have tested positive for COVID-19, or you have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 in the past week, immediately notify the State Captain or an Assistant State Captain. · Social distancing is recommended, but not required, unless cemetery, funeral home, other partner require it, or if a family requests it.· Wash your hands before, during (as practical), and after the mission.· Water will be provided by the flag support person and passed out only by that person. No snacks will be provided by flag support and members should not bring any to share either.
