DESCRIPTION:Ruben Velasco\, Active Duty\nUSMC\nMULTI-CITY\, California – 25 Aug 2017\n\n\n[HR][/HR]\nABOUT THE MISSION: \n\nThe family and the US Marine Corps have invited the Patriot Guard Riders to attend the arrival home and the funeral services of Hero LCpl Ruben Velasco\, we will be honored to do so. \nLCpl Ruben Velasco grew up in the West Covina area of Southern California and graduated from West Covina High School in 2016.  He immediately joined the Marine Corps and had been serving in Australia. \nHe was on an Osprey helicopter with 25 other Marines that crashed as it was attempting to land on the back of an aircraft carrier. 23 Marines survived\, LCpl Velasco was one of the 3 that did not. \nVelasco has been posthumously promoted to Lance Corporal as a gesture of honor by the Corps\, awarded for his good and faithful service to the Corps. \nRuben loved the Corps\, he loved Australia\, and he loved his friends and family.  When at West Covina High he was a star football player and loved playing football. \nNOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this American Hero. For those interested\, and all are welcome\, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the airport to the mortuary. Please see the time table if you would like to participate.
