ABOUT THE MISSION:
Roy Burchfield served in the US Army as a Tracker and RTO for a Combat Tracker Team in Vietnam. He retired from the Army after 27 years of service to his country. Roy was instrumental in bringing the Alabama War Dog Memorial at Battleship Park to fruition. Awards and commendations include NDSM, Army Commendation Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/ 1 Silver Star and 2 Bronze Service Stars, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal (4 awards), CIB, Air Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry (Unit), NCO Professional Development, and an Honorable discharge.It shall be our honor to ESCORT and stand a silent flag line at his committal service at 1:30 p.m.Mr. Burchfield stood many a hard day and night so that we might be safe and free. Now it is our turn to stand and honor him for his service and sacrifice. Ride safely!
