He was born on September 26\, 1950 in Hope\, AR to John and Betty (Pippin) Welch. Ron joined the U.S. Army in 1968 and served in the Vietnam War from 1970 to 1971 and was Crew Chief and a door gunner on a Huey. On February 14\, 1987 Ron married. He was a member of Rolling Thunder.
