ABOUT THE MISSION:
Sheriff Breedlove was born in Vance County, the son of the late Marvin Green Breedlove and Daisey Lowry Breedlove. He was the widower of Elizabeth Edwards Breedlove. Mr. Breedlove was employed as a serviceman with the former Carolina Power & Light Company for sixteen years. In 1977 he founded Breedlove Electric, Inc. In 1983 he became an Auxiliary Officer with the Vance County Sheriff’s Department until 1990. He was elected Sheriff of Vance County in 1990. He took office as sheriff on August 31, 1989, then he was re-elected in 1994, 1998 and again in 2002. He served in the U.S. Army, discharged as a PFC. His awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal; Army Occupation Medal (Germany) Good Conduct Medal. A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 8, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church, conducted by the Rev. Frank Sossamon. Surviving are one daughter, one son, one sister, one brother, one grandson, one great-grandson, two step granddaughters, two step-grandsons, and a step great-granddaughter. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Amy Elizabeth Breedlove, one sister, Peggy Dickerson and three brothers, Marvin Breedlove Jr., Glenn Breedlove and Ernest Breedlove.

We will assemble on side of the church. We will stand an Honor Flag Line from approx. 12:30 pm until the start of the memorial service at 2 pm. We’ll stand down at start of service.There should be a lot of law enforcement in attendance since Sheriff Breedlove served as Sheriff of Vance county for 12 years and as a reserve officer for 7 years prior to becoming Sheriff.
