ABOUT THE MISSION:
PFC Robert Peterson, 98, faithfully served his country from 1942 to 1945, during World War II, with the U.S. Army 17th Infantry where he earned a World War II Victory Medal, Asia Pacific Service Medal, Infantry Medal and Purple Heart. Robert was a combat infantryman and bugler with the 17th Infantry. He was in following battles or campaigns: Aleutian Island, Easter Mandates Southern Philippines Islands. He was wounded in the Pacific Theater June 7, 1945. Robert was a member of the V.F.W. as well as the Disabled American Veterans. He was honored to have participated in a recent Hero Flight.

Following the funeral service, weather permitting, the PGR will escort Robert to his final resting place at the Kearney Cemetery. The PGR shall stand a flag line during the graveside service. Military honors conducted by the Kearney American Legion Post 52 and Veterans’ of Foreign Wars Post 759 in conjunction with the Nebraska National Guard Honors Team.
