Honor Mission
Robert L. Gaston , Veteran

ABOUT THE MISSION:

The family of U.S. Army Veteran Robert Lee Gaston, has requested the Patriot Guard Riders honor him by escorting him and his family from the Darby Funeral Home to Georgia National Cemetery where he will be laid to rest. We have informed them that it will be an honor and privilege to do so. PFC Robert Gaston served during the Korean War. He was an accomplished baseball player and was assigned at Fort McPherson playing baseball for the 3rd Army. In 1956 his team played in and won the “Army World Series”. After leaving the military, Mr. Gaston became a Lithographer for the American Can Corporation designing the markings on soda cans. He retired after thirty years. Mr. Gaston also enjoyed riding motorcycles.

Special Instructions:

After a short briefing we will establish and stand a flag line outside the funeral home as the U.S. Army Honor Guard renders military honors outside. Please execute CDC guidelines by practicing appropriate distancing. We will then get lined up to escort this HERO and his family from Darby Funeral Home to Georgia National Cemetery. We are currently still restricted from entering the cemetery as a group. Accordingly, at the main entrance gate we will go around the circle and stop momentarily to allow the hearse and family to enter the cemetery. When clear and safe, we will then depart.

If you have large bike flags, please bring them.
Water WILL NOT be provided, please bring your own.
