Honor Mission

Robert J. Mix, Veteran

USMC, WWII

ABOUT THE MISSION:

The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to stand in honor of another WWII hero.  Robert J. Mix passed away on 6 June 2018 at the age of 92.

Mr. Mix served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1943-1945 as a Light Artillery Gun Crewman, and his duty was aboard the Essex-class aircraft carrier USS Randolph (CV-15) for 13 months. During this time, the Randolph was involved in heavy action against the enemy and in support of 3 battles in the Pacific Theater of Operations, including Iwo Jima.  Mr. Mix also survived a Japanese kamikaze attack that killed 27 crewman and injured 105. Mr. Mix was honorably discharged on 8 November 1945 with the rank of Private First Class, and earned several awards.

Special Instructions:

Assemble at the funeral home in preparation for dignified transfer and escort to Forest Hill Cemetery, 40 High St., Attica.  Graveside Service at 11:00 AM with military honors.  Please arrive on time with a clean 3×5 American flag or USMC flag, dress for the weather, and ensure your large flags are properly placed and securely attached.

This is a relatively short mission, please consider participating to honor the WWII service of Robert Mix, and to support his loving and proud family.

If you have large bike flags, please bring them.
Water WILL NOT be provided, please bring your own.

I will forever be grateful for his service, sacrifice, and dedication to our country. Rest easy now, Sir…those you have left behind to carry on without you have the watch.
