ABOUT THE MISSION:
Robert Gomez was a United States Navy veteran. He proudly served his country in the US Navy from 1954 to 1956. After serving 2 years prior, Robert Gomez was recalled to active duty in September 1954 and served aboard the USS Mount McKinley (AGC-7) which during that timeframe served as the Flagship for Operation Wigwam which was an underwater nuclear test to determine the vulnerability of submarines to deeply detonated nuclear weapons. In August 1956 Robert Gomez was released from active duty having completed his obligated term of service and honorably discharged, presumably returning to complete his obligated reserve time.
