DESCRIPTION:Robert E. Cook \nWWII – Army Air Corp\nRio Rancho\, NM\, 04-22-2016 \n\n\nPatriot Guard Riders of New Mexico have been invited by the family to honor another great American hero. \n\nRobert E. Cook passed away on April 17\, 2016 from this world to the next. Robert was born in Chicago\, Illinois and graduated from St. Rita’s High School in 1940. \n\nHe was on guard duty at Hickam Field the morning of the attack on Pearl Harbor\, December 7\, 1941 and went on to proudly serve his country in the 14th Air Force\, 308th Bomb Group\, flying as a top-turret gunner and flight engineer in a B-24 named “Snowball From Hell\,” surviving 63 missions. \n\nHe met his wife Rosina while they both worked for Alaska Airlines. They were married on June 6\, 1953 and had 62 years of marriage until his wife Rosina passed on December 14\, 2015. Robert worked for Emery Air Freight for 35 years retiring in 1986. Robert and Rosina raised their family in the Chicago area and Burnsville\, Minnesota\, before moving back to Buffalo Grove\, Illinois after their children finished school. They moved to Rio Rancho\, New Mexico in 1987 where they lived out their retirement years. Robert was a devoted family man\, who had a strong faith in God\, was a life-long Cubs fan and loved the “Fighting Irish” of Notre Dame.
