ABOUT THE MISSION:
Robert David Sturdivant is a United States Army Veteran. Bob entered Active Duty on July 20, 1982. Bob’s service to our country extended 22 years, 5 months, and 11 days. Of that time, Bob served 4 years, 5 months and 13 days of Foreign Service, including time in Vietnam. Bob had several MOS, including 11AB – Infantry Officer for 22 years, 5 months, 92AS – Supply Management Officer for 6 years, 5 months, 5K Instructor – 15 years, 2 months and 5P – Parachutist for 22 years and 2 months. Bob’s last duty assignment was with HQ FORSCOM, stationed at Fort Carson, CO. On Dec. 31, 1984, having attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, Bob was honorably discharged.Bob was awarded Bronze Star w/1st Oak Leaf Cluster; Army Commendation Medal w/3 Oak Leaf Clusters; Joint Service Commendation Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal w/1 Silver and 3 Bronze Service Stars; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; Army Service Medal; Overseas Service Ribbon; Vietnam Service Medal w/3 Oak Leaf Clusters.During his time in Vietnam Bob was repeatedly exposed to Agent Orange. Bob ultimately succumbed to a combat-related illness as a result of his exposure to Agent Orange.
