Honor Mission

Richard Pawlak, Veteran

USMC – Korea, Vietnam

ABOUT THE MISSION:

We have been requested to participate in his military honors funeral of Richard Jennings.

Richard had a very lengthy career in the United States Marines having joined in 1953

He served in Korea 54-55 then 55-56 was a drill instructor at Parris Island. In 1957 he was with the rifle range Det. and in58-59 was at Okinawa with the 3rd Marine div.

In 1960 at Quantico. 61-64 I&I staff in Danville IL., 65-66 Vietnam, 67-68 Camp Lejune K-38 camp.69-70 H&S 1.4 HG 70-71 Marine Bks Guam, 71-72 Staff 32nd Mef. 73 H1 2-2 Camp Lejune.

He attended Jungle Warfare School and Cold Weather Training School.

He earned: Chief Clerks Commendation with Combat V, Naval Achievement with Combat V, Combat Action Ribbon, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal with 5 stars, PUC with one star, Naval Unit Citation, Naval defense service medal with one star, Korean service Medal, Korean Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service with one clasp, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 4 stars, Vietnam Cross of gallantry division level with frame and palm, Vietnam Civil Action Ribbon first class with frame and palm.

Richard honorably retired August 31 1973

After military retirement he worked for New York State Bridge Authority where he was the manager of the Rip Van Winkle Bridge. He was a longtime member of the Marine Corps League, the VFW, and the American Legion.

The Patriot Guard Riders will be there to render honor dignity and respect for the life and service of Gunnery Sergeant E7 Richard Jennings United States Marine Corps Korea and Vietnam.
