ABOUT THE MISSION:
Ladies and Gentlemen of the Patriot Guard Riders, we have been invited to honor Petty Officer Richard Mohrhauser, US Navy. He served on the USS Maddox from 1949 to 1950 and again from 1952 to 1954. Petty Officer Mohrhauser served during the Korean Conflict and received the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal. He served in the National Guard, US Navy Reserve and US Navy. After his military service, he worked for Caterpillar selling equipment and loved his job. Petty Officer Mohrhauser loved family, bowling and music. He was a true Patriot and many of his descendants have or are now serving in our Military. He is survived by many and will be missed by all. He will be buried alongside his wife who passed many years. This will be a 2 stage mission. We will be working with the American Legion to honor this HERO.

7 PGR Members arrived and attended the briefing at the staging point. Standard briefing was held and movement to church was uneventful. After arrival at church, 16 American Legion Riders arrived to augment the flag line and Rolling Honor Guard to cemetery. Static flags were put up and Members lined the sidewalk. Upon the start of the church service, the flag line was dismissed for movement to the cemetery. Move was uneventful, the static flags were put up and flag line established. Upon commencement of the service, appropriate honors were rendered. The plaque presentation brought tears from the family and the presenter had a difficult time with speaking during the presentation. Debrief was held and 10 first timer pins were presented. The Family took time to thank the PGR for helping to honor their loved one. Special thanks to the ALR members who traveled from near and far to honor this HERO and to Lee Brown for his assistance.
