U.S. Marine Corps Veteran
A Vietnam Veteran
30 June 2016
The Patriot Guard Riders have been asked to escort Richard Henry Myers and his family to Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD, the site of his final resting place, on 30 June 2016. We are honored to do so.
Mr. Myers, age 69, of Mechanicsville, MD, died on 19 June 2016 after a brief but valiant battle with cancer. After High School, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and was sent to Vietnam, where he served as a radio operator and forward observer. After returning home, he worked as an auto mechanic, and later went into business for himself with Snap-On-Tools. He spent 27 years as field manager with the company. He was a top salesman, and retired in 2009. He loved restoring cars, riding his motorcycle and traveling with his wife. He was a member of the Maryland Patriot Guard, and was very proud to be a part of the Veterans Day parade every year, when he rode his motorcycle to the Vietnam War Memorial to pay respect to his fallen brothers. Richard was loved and respected by his family, friends and his community. He will be missed.
