Source: Marietta Daily Journal

ABOUT THE MISSION:

The world has lost another of the greatest generation in the passing of 1LT Richard (Dick) Samuel Bailey, USAAF 97 years old. He flew 60 plus missions including Battle of Bulge and Normandy. There will be an event at the hanger at 1400 with a special ceremony at Falcon Field by the Commemorative Air Force with a tour of WWII airplanes etc.
He will be interred in Arlington at a later date. He loved Waffle House and Longhorns. He is featured in a YouTube video if you would like to research it and look him up. There are also several articles in the Marietta Daily Journal about him over past several years. He was an active member of American Legion Post 304 in Acworth and the ALR will be participating in the escort with PGR. We will be leaving Acworth at 12:15 to give us plenty of time to arrive for ceremony. We will escort his remains (urn) in his son’s vehicle (Retired Marine Capt. Don Bailey) from American Legion Post 304,  to the CAF Dixie Wing Hangar at Falcon Field, Peachtree City. We will have LEO escort from Georgia State Patrol.
