ABOUT THE MISSION:
Rev. Robert Lauris Spinks was a World War II veteran who was a machine gunner in the 157th Infantry 45th Division and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He was in Anzio, Italy for 3 months, pushed towards Rome, participated in the invasion of southern France. He was wounded and captured in Reipertswiller, Germany, after battling from January 13th through 20th 1945. Allied forces lost 5 complete rifle companies in that battle. Survivors were marched 100 miles to Bad Orb, where he was held as a POW for three months until rescued. There was a book written by Hugh F. Foster about this battle. His family was incorrectly notified of his death during this time of his being held as a POW. Awarded the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantry Badge.

Riders will stage at the church to be briefed and to stand tall and silent as family and friends arrive. After the service begins, flags will be returned to the support vehicle. Riders will then receive a safety briefing. Then all riders will stage for the procession to the cemetery.Those riders not participating in the procession may move on to the cemetery to establish a flag line and await the arrival of the procession.

Estimated Those riders not participating in the procession may move on to the cemetery, establish a flag line and await the arrival of the procession. Riders in the procession will quickly dismount and join the flag line. Service will consist of three rifle volleys and a live bugler, as well as the Army Honor Guard from Fort Hood to perform the flag folding ceremony. Riders will stand tall and silent until the completion of the service, after which, flags will be returned to the flag vehicle.
