DESCRIPTION:Honor Mission\nRev. Robert Lauris Spinks\, Veteran\nUSA – WWII\nDenton\, Texas – 06-11-19\n\n\n \n\nABOUT THE MISSION: \nRev. Robert Lauris Spinks was a World War II veteran who was a machine gunner in the 157th Infantry 45th Division and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He was in Anzio\, Italy for 3 months\, pushed towards Rome\, participated in the invasion of southern France. He was wounded and captured in Reipertswiller\, Germany\, after battling from January 13th through 20th 1945. Allied forces lost 5 complete rifle companies in that battle. Survivors were marched 100 miles to Bad Orb\, where he was held as a POW for three months until rescued. There was a book written by Hugh F. Foster about this battle. His family was incorrectly notified of his death during this time of his being held as a POW. After the service begins\, flags will be returned to the support vehicle. Riders will then receive a safety briefing.
