SUMMARY:Remembering those we lost\, Memorial day dedication
DESCRIPTION:HOTH\nRemembering those we lost\, Memorial Day Dedication\nPOW/MIA\, Retired\, KIA\, Veteran\nUSA USMC USN USAF USCG – WWII\, Korea\nGreen Valley\, Arizona – 05-27-19\n\n\n\n\nABOUT THE MISSION: \nMemorial Day…Originally known as Decoration Day is observed on the last Monday in May every year. It is nationally observed to honor men and women who died while serving this great country we live in. With the Civil War ending in 1865 with the most casualties of any conflict in U.S. history\, a need for the country’s first National cemetery was immediate. 30 May was chosen by by General John Logan in 1868 as it did not represent the anniversary of any particular battle. In this period of time this day of honor and respect was known as Decoration Day and across the nation cities began paying tribute to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice by decorating their graves with flowers and flags. In 1966 the federal government declared Waterloo\, New York the official birthplace of Memorial Day because of records dating back to 5 May 1866 showing honor and respect for those lost in the war. In 1968 congress passed the uniform Monday Holiday Act thus moving Memorial day to the last Monday of the Month in May which took affect in 1971 making it an official day of remembrance.\n\n\nPRIMARY STAGING DETAILS: 05-27-19 \nStaging Time: 10:15 \nParking lot located behind American Legion Post\n131249 West Esperanza Blvd\nGreen Valley\, Arizona 85614\n\n\nRide Captain: \nRide Captain: Grumpy 520-359-4160\n\nFlag Captain: Robi 520-429-1175\n\n\nSubmitted By: Robi Campbell \nPosition: Arizona Assistant State Captain \n\nNote: You do not have to own/ride a motorcycle or be a veteran to join\, and membership is Free.
