Raymond Nelson Comment

  1. After Action Report – 22 Feb 2021, Sgt Raymond Nelson, USMC Vietnam Veteran, Bixby, OK
Four patriots gathered at Leonard-Marker Funeral Home to honor SGT Raymond Nelson, USMC Vietnam Veteran. Flags were staked along the highway in front of the funeral home prior to the service and a briefing was held detailing the mission. We concluded with a moment of silence for those who served, those who are currently serving and their families as well as all gathered here today. We then manned doors to welcome a great turnout of family and friends of our hero.
When the service began, we retrieved the flags and reposted them at the gravesite. Upon the conclusion of the service, a respect line was formed as our hero was moved to the coach for the short accompaniment to the cemetery. The accompaniment went well, and we formed another respect line when our hero was moved to the gravesite. Following a short presentation by his pastor, the USMC Honor Guard presented Military Honors and the PGR concluded the service with our presentations and a final salute. Following an appropriate time, the flags were again retrieved and stowed for our next mission. An incredibly grateful family thanked the PGR for our presence.
Thank you all who attended to make this mission successful and for the Nelson family for inviting us to honor their hero. Thank you most of all to SGT Raymond Nelson, USMC Vietnam Veteran, for your selfless service to our great nation. You service will never be forgotten.
    Dan (Big D) Koehling
