The family of Raymond J. “Butch” Giroux, Jr. has requested the Patriot Guard Riders to participate in his military honors funeral services. Another of our Vietnam Veterans has left us way too soon.

ABOUT THE MISSION:
Raymond J. “Butch” Giroux, Jr. answered his country’s call to service during the Vietnam War from March of 1968 to March of 1970. His 1 year tour of duty in Vietnam began in August of 1968. “Butch” rose to the rank of Specialist 4th Class as Power Generator Operator/Mechanic. He distinguished himself in service – none more so than on 23 February, 1969 while serving with his Headquarters Company his base camp came under heavy enemy fire. “Butch” took up offensive positions whereby he was able to lay down heavy volumes of suppressing fire – repelling the enemy’s multiple assaults on his position. For his bravery “Butch” was awarded the Army Commendation Medal with “V” Device. In addition, Raymond J. Giroux, Jr earned Vietnam Service Medal w/4 Bronze Service Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/Device, Army Commendation Medal w/1st Oak Leaf Cluster.
Raymond returned home to marry and raise a family. “Butch” owned and operated the Congress Garage in Cohoes later working with his close friend, Joe, at BPI Piping in Waterford. A hunter and a fisherman, Raymond enjoyed riding his motorcycle with his buddies.
The Patriot Guard Riders will be privileged to be there to render Honor, Dignity and Respect for the life and service of Raymond J. “Butch” Giroux, Jr.
