DESCRIPTION:  \n\nMemorial\nQuarterly Field of Honor Ceremony\, POW/MIA\, KIA\nUSA USMC USN USAF USCG – WWII\, Korea\, Vietnam\, WoT\nTampa\, Florida  07-13-19\n\n\n \n\nABOUT THE MISSION: \nThe Veterans Council of Hillsborough County has requested the Patriot Guard Riders to provide a flag line for its quarterly Field of Honor ceremony in tribute to military members who lost their lives during the months of April\, May\, and June 2019. Fallen members of law enforcement will also be honored. Attendees will be invited to place American flags at the Field of Honor circle during a reading of names of those who made the ultimate sacrifice. The salute will also include the names of U.S. military members lost during World War II\, Korea\, and Vietnam who were formerly listed as missing-in-action\, now identified through advancements in mitochondrial DNA research. Participants at the upcoming Field of Honor include: the Greater Tampa Bay Blue Star Mothers of America\, the Young Marines of Tampa Bay color guard\, Cub Scout Troop 610\, VFW Post 8108\, Sgt. Walter P. Ryan Detachment 1226 Marine Corps League of Riverview\, and singer Thurnell “Chip” Shields (USMC Ret.) of Hillsborough County Fire Rescue. Local Gold Star representatives will include the family of a Tampa Airman whose remains were recently recovered 66 years after a military plane crash in Alaska.The event\, museum\, and monuments at Veterans Memorial Park are all free and open to the public.
