Print This PageThe POW and MIA Recognition Day is a time for all to pause and recognize the sacrifices Americans have endured in the name of “Freedom and Democracy”, the thousands of lives lost in battle, and the fate of 10,000 Americans still missing in action. In 1990, Congress designated the League Flag as the national symbol of concern and commitment for a full accounting of Americans missing in Southeast Asia. In 1998, Congress directed the military and other federal activities to fly or display the League Flag on Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, National POW/MIA Recognition Day, and Veterans Day. The POW/MIA Recognition Ceremony will be conducted at 1030, 18 September 2009, at the POW/MIA Monument located at the intersection of Chamberlain Avenue and Kilbourne Street. The Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization, and Security (DPTMS) will be the lead agency for this event.
The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to attend this event.
