Pony Express

MULTI-CITY, Oklahoma – 11-21-20


The Family of USAF Veteran Albert Micheal Hinton and the Daughters Of The American Revolution {D.A.R.} has asked the Patriot Guard Riders to participate in His Flag Ceremony Nov 21, 20 at The American History Center. Patriot Guard Riders will then accompany his Flag by Pony Express to Cedartown Georgia to be presented to the surviving Family. Our Hero’s Flag has been on display at the Oklahoma City Military Welcome Center until recently when surviving Family were located.

Briefing: 10:30 a.m.
This American Flag will be Pony Expressed to the surviving Family of our Hero in Cedartown, Ga.
Oklahoma Patriot Guard Riders accompaniment of this Hero’s Flag will be to Alma, AR.
We will stop at Exit 13 on I-40 then the Arkansas Patriot Guard Riders will take over from there.
All are welcome and encouraged to cage or ride all or any part of this Mission.
Departure from Oklahoma History Center: 12 p.m.
Fuel/Pit Stop: I-40 and US 69 Exit 264-B in Checotah,OK for Fuel and a short break. (about 30 mins) then carry on to Alma, AR.
Big Flag Bikes are Welcome.

Pony Express, OK to GA Comment

  1. 21 Nov 20 Final Salute Ceremony and Pony Express for USN AB1 Vietnam Veteran Jerry Bryan Billings and USAF SSgt Vietnam Veteran Albert Michael Hinton Oklahoma City OK.

    There were 15 Riders on 9 bikes and 2 cages who attended the Final Salute Ceremony Mission.
    The Patriot Guard were invited by the Cordelia Steen Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution and participated in a Final Salute Ceremony acknowledging these Heros, their Service to our Nation and their previously unclaimed Flags. Guest Speaker former State Captain Randy Gilreath spoke on behalf of the PGR and regarding his and his wife Sharon Gilraeths initial intake of these unclaimed Flags. The Gilreaths arranged for these Flags to be displayed at the Oklahoma Military Welcome Center in Oklahoma City. Sometime later the Cordelia Steen Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution took on the task of locating surviving family members to be able to present the Hero’s Flag. So far of the 12 Flags 4 of those Flags have had surviving families located. PGR will be involved in accompanying all these Flags to surviving Family at later determined dates.
    Also at the Final Salute Ceremony today Taps was played, then the Flag of USN AB1 Vietnam Veteran Jerry Bryan Billings was folded and presented to the surviving first cousin by America’s Warriors Honor Guard.
    Patriot Guard ASC Jeff Huff donned white gloves and received the Flag of USAF SSgt Vietnam Veteran Albert Michael Hinton and made the call to mount up for the first leg of the Pony Express Mission. Riders and the support vehicle rode through the circle drive amongst the participants and special guests that were waving American Flags giving thanks, cheers and wishes for safe travels.
    The PGR Pony Express team traveled from the History Center to Alma, Arkansas and met Arkansas PGR and transferred the Flag to them for the next leg of the mission. 1 Oklahoma Ride Captain continued on with the Pony Express.
    Thank you to all who attended today’s ceremony, Most of all Thank You to USN AB1 Jerry B. Billings And to USAF SSgt Albert M. Hinton Your Mission is complete and you will not be forgotten.
