Phyllis L. Hammer served in the United States Army for thirteen years, four months and nineteen days and was a Physical Therapy Specialist. During her service she was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Rifle M-16 Badge (Expert), and the Good Conduct Medal (3rd Award).
