  1. Mission Complete: 2 June 2020 – SP4 Phillip Wayne Bailey, USA Viet Nam Era Veteran, Midwest City, OK

On Tuesday, 2 June 2020 there were 17 Patriot Guard Riders on 13 bikes and 3 cages who attended the mission to Honor the Military Service of US Army Viet Nam Era Veteran SP4 Phillip Wayne Bailey.

Flags were staked at the funeral home, the briefing was held, followed by a moment of silence for the Blue Star, Silver Star & Gold Star families, POWs and MIAs. A prayer asking comfort for the grieving family, a safe mission and protection for our military personnel engaged in the Global War on Terror was also said.

The riders stood the Flag Line with the Army Service Flag and manned the doors as family and friends arrived for the service. When the service started, those PGR members not attending the service retrieved the flags and stored them for the next mission before being dismissed.

At the end of the service members read the PGR Plaque and PGR Invocation and presented them to the Hero’s son and daughter, then thanked the family for inviting us to come and honor the military service of their loved one. After the presentation by the PGR, the Army Honor Detail played Taps, folded the Flags and presented one to each of the children.

Thank you to all of my fellow riders for attending this mission. Your presence made a difference to this family.

Most of all, thank you SP4 Phillip Wayne Bailey for your service to this great nation. You will not be forgotten.

    Respectfully,
    RCIC Ray “rayneman” Gehrig
